All of the Antarctic stations take a midwinter photo and share it with other stations. We took this photo last week. We were hoping to get big auroras in the photo, but the faint ones we captured are still cool. We met in the galley and figured out our positions so we could go right outside knowing where to stand. We took four different chunks of photos. The camera was on continuous shooting, but it is very hard to keep our breathing out of the photo. So the photographer would yell “stop breathing” and we would hold our breath for 5-10 seconds and then have a few seconds to breath before another round of photos. It was fun to be out there together. Max and I are in the front row, both wearing blue.
